A website that doesn't convert is an invisible leak in your company's budget. You spend time on SEO, you pay Google Ads, marketing brings users... and then, nothing happens.
Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) is the science of discovering why users leave and fixing it. Before throwing money at a complete redesign, check if your site is committing any of these 7 classic mistakes.
1. Your Value Proposition isn't Clear in 3 Seconds
Users don't read; they scan. If a visitor lands on your site and can't answer "What is this, who is it for, and why should I care?" in less than 3 seconds, they leave.
- The error: "We provide holistic synergy solutions for modern paradigms."
- The fix: "Accounting software that saves you 10 hours of manual work per week. Try it free."
2. It Takes More Than 3 Seconds to Load
Speed is the invisible killer of conversions. According to Google, if mobile load times jump from 1 to 3 seconds, the probability of bounce increases by 32%.
How to fix it: Optimize your images (use WebP), minify CSS/JS, don't use 20 different WordPress plugins, and ensure you have a decent hosting provider (not a $2 shared plan).
3. Buried Calls to Action (CTAs)
If you want users to contact you or buy, make it obvious. The CTA button is the most important element on the screen.
The error: Small gray buttons saying "Submit" hidden at the bottom of the page.
The fix: High-contrast buttons (orange, green, strong blue) with action-oriented text: "Get my Free Audit", "Add to Cart", "Start Now". Have one above the fold, and repeat it periodically as the user scrolls.
4. Too Much Friction
Friction is anything that makes the user's life harder. The biggest culprit? Contact forms with 14 fields.
Do you really need to know their company fax number, second surname, and postal code just to send them a PDF brochure? No.
How to fix it: Reduce forms to the absolute bare minimum (Name and Email). You can gather the rest of the data later.
5. Lack of Social Proof
People don't want to be the first to risk their money on you. If your site doesn't prove that others have trusted you and succeeded, skepticism wins.
How to fix it: Include real testimonials (preferably with photos), client logos, case studies, or badges (e.g. "Google Partner").
6. It Doesn't Look Perfect on Mobile
We are in 2026. 70% or more of your traffic probably comes from smartphones. If your buttons are too small to tap, or the text requires horizontal scrolling, conversions will plummet.
How to fix it: Adopt a "Mobile-First" design process. Design for thumbs, not mouse cursors.
7. Vague or Corporate Copywriting
Speaking strictly in corporate jargon ("We are a leading multidisciplinary team with vast expertise") bores users and doesn't solve their problems.
How to fix it: Talk about their problems, not your greatness. Use "You" more than "We".
